- Computer Repair and Networking: I, the FixNerd, have extensive experience working with PC’s, MACs, and mixed computer networks. Before discovering my passion for science, I worked for several years in a computer shop and, eventually, started and ran my own computer repair shop and networking business. And as my name implies, I am quite capable of fixing things, computers especially.
- Technology Training/Seminars: I have done technology training for business offices introducing new hardware or software as well as seminars about how to maintain computers so as not to need to call up people like me. Technology training can highly increase the productivity of a business because less time is required trying to get things to work.
Web Presence Services (only offered in Davis CA and to select clients back home)
- WordPress Development: Many companies don’t have the time or the money to build, maintain, and update a webpage (it can get expensive); but it has become an essential form of advertisement for even small businesses. I can rather quickly build an attractive and modern looking website on the WordPress framework, making it stable, cheap, and easy to update.
- Hosting and Website Management: If even the WordPress option is too much of a time commitment, I can host and manage the site myself, and generate monthly status reports to give the client a constant flow of information about updates, site hits, and demographics. I can also help the client capture the domain name of their choice or even make recommendations about what domain names might suit their business. I can also setup a fully managed email system using said domain name so that they are no longer stuck using BusinessName2929930@Yahoo.com as their company email address.
- Full Web Presence Development: Other than a business webpage, there is also Twitter, Facebook, Myspace, Live Journal, LinkedIn, Biznik, Google Maps (Business Directory), Yahoo! Local, Local Wiki Pages (ahem, DAVISWIKI.ORG) and many many more. Some might argue that having these kinds of sites for a business is superfluous, but the name of the game is accessibility. If someone does a search for a company, and sees their main website, followed by their Twitter, their Facebook, their Myspace, etc, that company is highly accessible and that company dominates the web search, the entire first page of results is them! Don’t believe me? Google “Starbucks” and see what you get.
